    9-27-06 Crude Oil Up

    Crude oil shot up today about $2.00 per barrel to $62.97. Crude did a rebound after opec announced that they may have to cut production to stabalize prices.  Crude oil has been falling in price for the last few weeks.  It has been a very slow hurricane season, and the stock piles of crude oil have been rising in the recent months.

    Trading commodity futures is risky

    Futures trading is not suitablt for everyone. You should consider your investment objectives and only use risk capital when trading commodity markets.  If you have not traded before, talk with a licensed broker who can help you decide if futures trading is for you.

    Trading of Single Stock Futures

    Since inception, volume has picked up on single stock futures trading. THese contracts can be traded through a licensed futures broker that is registered in the correct capacity.  Make sure you understand the risk involved in trading SSF markets. They are electonically traded, so getting into, or getting out of the markets has not been difficult. This may not always be the case however. Some of the single stock futures are being traded at the OneChicago exchange.
     
    The margin requirement for these contracts is 20%.  Make sure you speak with a licensed broker about how to trade these markets, and understand fully how to trade these markets.
